The village of Saig is located in the heart of the natural park of the Black Forest at 1000m altitude and south of the Hochfirst (1194m). Saig lives mostly from tourism and has a large number of second homes and hotels. Well known for its sports and host to many conferences, Saig is a busy city. Many professional football clubs have even made use of its facilities to organize training courses.
Originally the club was founded as a ski club! After the difficult times of the 1st World War in 1922, it became a sports club combining two disciplines, football and athletics, before later becoming a football club unto itself. Having been created 94 years ago, SV Saig was one of the oldest clubs participating in Mountain Euro 2012.
